Automation in Backup, Restore and
Disaster Recovery

Three fairly recent computing advances -- deduplication, block level incrementals, and production-available replication -- have become popular additions to enterprise data protection solutions, but they have added complexity in the backup management arena for both administrators and operators.

Quite often, their advantages of these technologies have been overpowered by the sheer burden of added operational tasks and management overhead to the ever-present need for IT managers to provide data recovery to their users.

STORServer's mission to simplify data protection through automation did not stop with policy-based management, virtualized storage (pools), and appliance packaging. Our customers now have the ability to incorporate all three of these recent technological advances into the STORServer Enterprise Backup Appliance.

Like the automated movement of storage from one virtual storage pool to another based upon policy decisions, deduplication is now a button click option for administrators, or even individual users. Along with block-level incremental backups for Windows and Linux environments, block level data captured in backups is also automatically deduplicated at the STORServer primary pools.

And along with the historically advanced automated replication of Server-to-Server Backup Appliances for multiple site administrators, Block-Level replication appliances allow Windows and Linux users a production-available replication, which is even available while the restored data is in transit.
